Basic White Bread and Meat and Cheese Braid

Katrina Sanders

4 cups milk
6 tbs butter
8 tbs sugar
4 tsp salt
2 pckg yeast (same as 4 ½ tsp)
soften in ½ cup of warm water
12 ½ cups flour

Heat butter and milk till warm but not hot and butter is melted. Add sugar, salt, milk and yeast mixture. Add 6 cups flour and mix. Add remaining flour. Knead and let rise till doubled or till your happy with the size (at least an hour). Split into 4 sections and put in 4 greased loaf pans and let rise (makes 4 loaves, rise about 1 ½ hours). Cook @ 350 for about 30 minutes or till you are satisfied with the color. Take right out of pans and rub hot loaves with butter and let cool.

Meat-n-cheese braid: when you split into 4 loaves use one and roll into a rectangle. Overlap meat in the center and top with cheese. I have used all sorts of cheese including cheese sticks! Cut sides horizontally and pull over the meat and cheese to the opposite side covering the center. You can make more with the other 3 or just put them in loaf pans. You can cover well and freeze or let rise and cook @ 350 for about 30 minuets.
